Gemstones, like crystals, are precious living minerals, so we recommend handling them with care. Most gemstones can be easily cleaned at home in warm water with mild dish soap and a soft brush. However, some gemstones like pearls, opals and various other softer one-of-a-kind gems should only be cleaned with a soft damp cloth and then dried. To maintain the natural beauty of your gem, we recommend keeping your ring away from moisture, excessive heat and out of direct sunlight, as these can cause some gemstones to fade.

Metals, such as platinum and gold can be cleaned using hot soapy water and dried with a soft cloth. We recommend removing your Design Bay ring before showering, swimming or when handling chemicals and cosmetics, including perfumes, creams and hairspray. Such chemicals can cause some metals to discolour and damage delicate softer gemstones. Never leave your ring immersed in water as this can also damage your jewellery. To protect the longevity of your inspirational ring and keep it free from scratches, we recommend storing your ring in its original Design Bay box or in a soft jewellery pouch.
